In the trade the eVB is the point where the customer comes in: without their insurance confirmation no registration application starts. Since September 2023 this also applies to applications by legal entities in the i-Kfz procedure. This is how to organise it cleanly.
Zevra is the B2B platform for digital vehicle registration for car dealers, registration services and fleets: cases are entered in the dealer portal and filed nationwide by power of attorney with qualified electronic signature – from €10 per registration, no base fee, no minimum volume.

What is the eVB number needed for in the procedure?
The Vehicle Registration Ordinance makes the number of the electronic insurance confirmation a mandatory entry in the internet-based application; it is verified electronically in the procedure – together with the check for outstanding vehicle tax and the verification of the bank details. Without a valid eVB the application is not approved.
| Procedure | eVB required? |
|---|---|
| New registration | yes |
| Transfer with/without change of keeper | yes |
| Re-registration | yes |
| Day registration | yes |
| Deregistration | no |
Whose name must the eVB be in?
The future keeper's. When selling to a customer that is the customer – they request the eVB from their insurer and give it to the dealership. For day registrations and demonstrators the keeper is the dealership itself; here the eVB comes from the dealer's insurance.
How does the eVB work in the dealer portal?
- Enter the keeper's eVB number – Zevra cleans it up (upper/lower case and spaces do not matter).
- The application is filed digitally; the eVB is verified automatically in the procedure.
- If the eVB is invalid or does not match the keeper, the rejection comes back with a reason and is visible in the case.
Typical errors around the eVB
- eVB issued to a person other than the future keeper (e.g. partner, company instead of owner).
- eVB already used for another vehicle.
- Characters mixed up: O and 0, I and 1 – have the customer send the number as text rather than typing it from a photo.
- Cover only starts in the future – schedule the application accordingly.
What does registration cost with Zevra?
The eVB is a matter between the keeper and their insurer; Zevra charges from €10 net per registration, deregistration €2. No base fee.
