For the dealership, not only the notice counts but every deadline after it. The following times come from the Federal Ministry of Transport's information on i-Kfz.
Zevra is the B2B platform for digital vehicle registration for car dealers, registration services and fleets: cases are entered in the dealer portal and filed nationwide by power of attorney with qualified electronic signature – from €10 per registration, no base fee, no minimum volume.

How long does each step take?
| Step | Duration / deadline |
|---|---|
| Checking the application | in real time, automated |
| Registration notice and temporary proof | provided online at once |
| Retrieving the temporary proof | within 30 minutes |
| Validity of the temporary proof | 10 days after retrieval, including public holidays |
| Documents posted by the authority | within 6 days of the application |
| Carrying registration certificate part I, attaching the stickers | no later than 10 days after registration |
If the temporary proof is not retrieved within 30 minutes, immediate use of the vehicle is not possible.
May the vehicle be driven at once?
Yes. After the registration notice has been issued, the vehicle may take part in road traffic for a limited time – even without stamped plates. The temporary proof is printed and attached visibly to the vehicle.
This applies to newly registered, day-registered, re-registered and transferred vehicles.
How long does deregistration take online?
Deregistration is also checked automatically in real time; the confirmation can be retrieved online at once. The authority additionally posts an information letter to the keeper's address.
How long is a day registration valid?
Until midnight of the same day. A day registration is always a first registration with simultaneous automated deregistration.
What makes it take longer?
- The data cannot be validated: after 3 correction requests the application is rejected.
- The authority's i-Kfz portal is unavailable: the application goes to the registration authority for partly automated processing.
- The temporary proof is not retrieved within 30 minutes.
- The documents carry no security code – then only the visit to the authority remains.
- eVB number, IBAN or keeper data do not match the registers.
What does this mean for handover at the dealership?
With Zevra the dealership enters the case in the dealer portal and sees the status of every vehicle live. Once the notice is there, the vehicle can be handed over the same day; the documents follow by post.
Registration costs from €10, deregistration from €2 per case, net and plus official fees.
