How digital registration with Zevra works – step by step

From sign-up to the consolidated invoice: this page shows digital vehicle registration with Zevra in 6 steps – who does what, which documents are needed and what the portal checks before submission.

6 steps · 5 case types · from €10 per registration · €0 base fee

How does a digital registration with Zevra work?

Your business creates an account, grants a power of attorney once with a qualified electronic signature and then enters every case in the dealer portal. Zevra submits the application digitally nationwide through the i-Kfz procedure; the registration authority decides.

The end customer needs no activated online ID. They sign the power of attorney and the SEPA mandate in one step; everything else runs between your business, Zevra and the authority.

What is needed for a case?

🪪

ID and power of attorney

The keeper's ID and a standing or single power of attorney, signed with a qualified signature via Verimi under the eIDAS Regulation (EU) No 910/2014.

📄

Vehicle documents

Registration certificate Part I and Part II with the security codes uncovered; for new vehicles the certificate of conformity (CoC).

🛡️

eVB number

The insurer's electronic insurance confirmation; the portal checks the format before submission.

🏦

SEPA mandate

For vehicle tax and official fees; the IBAN is checked and the mandate is signed in the same step as the power of attorney.

Create the account, add businesses and sites, assign staff access with roles.

Authorise

Sign the standing power of attorney once – then any number of cases without a new signature per vehicle.

Enter

Choose the case type and upload documents; text recognition suggests the vehicle identification number and the plate.

Status of every case in the dashboard; if a case is rejected, the authority's reason is shown on the case.

What happens after the decision?

🚗

Drive right away

After registration the provisional registration proof is valid for 10 days – until documents and stickers arrive.

🔢

Plates

Reserve a personalised plate in the case, valid for 90 days; order the pair of plates for €4,50 with it.

🧾

One invoice

1 consolidated invoice a month, as PDF and as e-invoice under EN 16931 (XRechnung), assigned per cost centre.

When does a case not run digitally?

  • Vehicles without a valid general inspection: the i-Kfz procedure rejects the application.
  • Change of keeper without registration certificate Part II: the application is not accepted.
  • Short-term plates and export plates: not part of Zevra's offer.
  • Missing or damaged security codes: the case belongs at the counter of the registration authority.
