A rejection costs the dealership time and delays the handover. This overview sums up the reasons that can be ruled out before applying.
Zevra is the B2B platform for digital vehicle registration for car dealers, registration services and fleets: cases are entered in the dealer portal and filed nationwide by power of attorney with qualified electronic signature – from €10 per registration, no base fee, no minimum volume.

Why is an application rejected?
| Reason | Solution |
|---|---|
| General inspection expired | test centre first, then apply |
| eVB number not issued to the future keeper | request a new eVB number from the keeper's insurer |
| Documents issued before the key date, no security code | handle the case at the registration authority |
| Security code misread or damaged | check characters: lowercase l and capital I, O and 0 |
| Vehicle already deregistered | choose re-registration instead of transfer |
How often can corrections be made?
If the data cannot be validated, the procedure asks for a correction. According to the Federal Ministry of Transport the application is rejected after 3 correction requests.
What is checked automatically in the procedure?
- the electronic insurance confirmation
- the keeper's motor vehicle tax arrears
- the deadline for the next general inspection from the Central Vehicle Register or via the check digit of the report
- the security codes of the registration certificates and registration stickers
What happens if the automated check fails?
The decision is then passed to the registration authority, which is not bound by the result of the automated pre-check. If an authority's i-Kfz portal is unavailable, applications via the large-customer interface go to the competent registration authority for partly automated processing.
How can rejections be avoided?
- check the key dates of the documents: part I from 01.01.2015, part II from 01.01.2018
- have the customer send the eVB number as text instead of typing it from a photo
- uncover the security code only when the case really starts
- retrieve the temporary proof within 30 minutes
What does this mean for the dealership?
In the Zevra dealer portal you see the status of every case live and the reason for a rejection directly on the case.
With Zevra, registration costs from €10, deregistration from €2 per case, net and plus official fees.
