5 questions that keep coming up at the sales desk – each with its source in the Vehicle Registration Ordinance or the official fee schedule.
Zevra is the B2B platform for digital vehicle registration for car dealers, registration services and fleets: cases are entered in the dealer portal and filed nationwide by power of attorney with qualified electronic signature – from €10 per registration, no base fee, no minimum volume.

What applies if registration certificate part I is lost?
Registration certificate part I must be carried when driving and handed to competent persons on request. After a loss the registration authority issues a new one; the fee schedule provides for €10.20, plus €0.90 when a registration certificate part I is issued.
If the lost document turns up again, the keeper or owner must hand it in to the competent registration authority without delay.
What does a security transfer cost for financed vehicles?
- Entry, cancellation or custody: €5.10 each
- Sending registration certificate part II including the registered-mail fee: €10.20
- The registration application states the name and address of the person entitled to dispose of registration certificate part II – for example the bank.
What is a trailer list?
If several trailers are registered to the same keeper, the registration authority can on request additionally issue a list of these trailers. It contains the keeper's name and address as well as make, vehicle class, body type, unladen mass, permissible total mass, vehicle identification number, date of first registration and plate.
At a check it is sufficient to present this list instead of registration certificate part I. Issuing it costs €2.60 per vehicle entered.
What sizes do number plates have?
| Plate | Width | Height |
|---|---|---|
| single-line | at most 520 mm | 110 mm |
| two-line | at most 340 mm, 280 mm for two- and three-wheeled motor vehicles | 200 mm |
| motorcycle plate | 180 to 220 mm | 200 mm |
| reduced two-line | at most 255 mm | 130 mm |
Reduced two-line plates may only be assigned to light motorcycles and certain other vehicles.
Who is the keeper and who is entitled to dispose?
The registration application contains the keeper's data; the vehicle is registered to the keeper. The entitlement to dispose is separate: anyone applying for a registration certificate part II must prove to the registration authority the entitlement to dispose of the vehicle.
The registration authority does not decide private-law matters. It returns registration certificate part II to the person who presented it or to the body that person designates.
Which official fees apply in these cases?
| Official act | Fee |
|---|---|
| Replacement of registration certificate part I after loss | €10.20 + €0.90 |
| Security transfer: entry, cancellation or custody | €5.10 each |
| Sending part II including registered mail | €10.20 |
| Trailer list per vehicle | €2.60 |
| Correction of the trailer list per vehicle | €2.60 |
| each further copy of the trailer list | €1.00 |
