Yes, a dealership can register a vehicle for a customer who lives in another federal state. The registration authority at the keeper's residence remains competent – but with the digital i-Kfz procedure nobody has to drive there.
Zevra is the B2B platform for digital vehicle registration for car dealers, registration services and fleets: cases are entered in the dealer portal and filed nationwide by power of attorney with qualified electronic signature – from €10 per registration, no base fee, no minimum volume.

Which registration office is competent?
What counts is not the dealership's location but the residence of the future keeper – for companies the registered office or branch. The vehicle therefore receives the district code of the keeper's registration district, not the dealer's.
For the trade this traditionally means: send documents by courier, hire a local service or drive yourself. Exactly this step disappears with the digital application.
How registration works digitally
- The customer grants a power of attorney – digitally with a qualified electronic signature (QES). An activated online ID card of the customer is not needed.
- The dealership enters vehicle and keeper data in the dealer portal.
- Zevra files the case via the nationwide i-Kfz procedure with the competent authority. The decision still rests with the registration authority.
- After filing, the dealership prints the temporary registration – the vehicle can be handed over before the stamped plates are there.
Which documents are needed?
- Registration certificate part II with security code (for used vehicles also part I)
- eVB number of the keeper's motor insurance
- SEPA direct debit mandate for vehicle tax
- Power of attorney from the keeper
- For used vehicles: valid roadworthiness test
| Document | For |
|---|---|
| Registration certificate part II with security code (after 1 January 2018) | New registration, transfer, re-registration |
| Registration certificate part I with security code (after 1 January 2015) | Used vehicles, deregistration |
| Keeper's eVB number | Proof of third-party insurance |
| Keeper's SEPA mandate | Vehicle tax |
| Keeper's power of attorney (QES) | Application by the dealership |
What does it cost?
At Zevra a registration costs from €10 per case, with no base fee and no minimum volume. The price is the same nationwide, whichever registration district the customer lives in. Official fees are passed on 1:1. All prices net plus VAT.
Plates: own press or shipping
Dealerships with their own plate press stamp the plates themselves. Alternatively Zevra orders the plates directly – with shipping and tracking.
