Customers want to keep their personalised plate or secure it in advance. All details come from the Vehicle Registration Ordinance (FZV) and the fee schedule for road traffic measures (GebOSt).
Zevra is the B2B platform for digital vehicle registration for car dealers, registration services and fleets: cases are entered in the dealer portal and filed nationwide by power of attorney with qualified electronic signature – from €10 per registration, no base fee, no minimum volume.

What does reserving a plate cost?
| Case | Official fee |
|---|---|
| Advance assignment or reservation, per identification number | 2.60 euros |
| Re-registration in the same district without change of keeper with a reserved plate, at the counter | 23.00 euros |
| the same re-registration online | 10.60 euros |
The fee applies equally to vehicle keepers, vehicle dealers and registration services.
How long does the reservation last after deregistration?
The keeper can have the plate reserved for re-registration for at most 12 months, counted from the day of deregistration, and receives a written or electronic confirmation.
This does not apply if the plate was kept after a move to another registration district and is deregistered there.
Which combinations are not permitted?
The character combination of the identification number and the combination of district code and identification number must not offend public decency. On request the applicant must be told the intended plate before it is assigned.
Which drives does a reserved plate allow?
If a reservation exists, drives connected with the registration procedure – for example to have the registration sticker attached or for the general inspection – may be made with unstamped plates: within the registration district and an adjacent district, if the drive is covered by motor liability insurance.
What does the reservation save on re-registration?
- For re-registration to the same keeper, registration certificate part II does not have to be presented if the previous plate is kept.
- The official fee is lower: 10.60 euros online instead of 12.80 euros for an ordinary re-registration.
What does this mean for the dealership?
In the Zevra dealer portal you enter the next free, a reserved or a personalised plate in the application.
With Zevra, registration costs from €10, deregistration from €2 per case, net and plus official fees.
